Since writing this I’ve been told that the phone was picked up, without an understanding being achieved. So Andy definitely knew he was applying for something he wouldn’t get, with all the consequential fury associated with that. It’s a case of on the one hand or the other. On balance I wish he hadn’t done that because there’s a lot going on in the world at the moment.
