I ordered the book weeks ago. Looking forward to reading it.
Your last book inspired me to finally lose weight and stick with it. When I read about your realisations around eating mindlessly, like an automaton, I cried because that was me. I’ve lost two stone in seven months. Plateaued because of “creep” towards less healthy choices. But a diagnosis of fatty liver disease just after starting my weight loss journey has been hugely motivating too.
When I read your email about your struggles in maintaining your lifestyle choices and how your book catalogues the “how to…” that you’ve established, it made me realise that I’m not taking obvious steps to support a lasting and sustainable change.
Monday 9am: first session with a personal trainer.
Following Monday, starting urban cycling lessons (big thanks to Redbridge Council for fully funding them!).
Your candour and commitment to helping others is meaningful and inspiring, Tom, so I hope that you truly appreciate how much I (and many others) benefit from your efforts.
Hi Tom - I pre-ordered your book a while ago and am excited to read it! I have Type 2 and am not obese, but am still trying to reverse it. I’m very interested in the CGMs, but I’m stuck at which one to invest in! Also loved you on the phone-hacking committee!! 😊
Ordered and can’t wait. So admire what you have achieved and totally agree we have to deal with the symptoms of obesity and make people realise it’s an early death sentence.
Book pre-ordered. Among other things Interested in the continuous blood sugar monitors idea just read about in your email. Please invite me to the launch. I hope I can make it not sure when it is.. Thanks
Just pre-ordered your new book but gutted that I have to wait until 23 June. I'm really looking forward to reading it and applying it in my life.
My type 1 husband uses CGM and until I read the above I thought ketones in blood were devastatingly dangerous. Thank you for making clear the difference about how they're useful for T2 which is different to T1.
This is very interesting. Health monitoring apps are getting better and better but for some time have been continuing down a distinct path missing out on as few rather critical variables we could all do with understanding better. So this development is very interesting.
I see the NHS as being both my saviour and my nemesis all in one. In 2008 a kidney transplant saved my life and gave me a normal life back. Fast forward to now and I still struggle with blood pressure and diabetes.
The NHS seems nowadays keener to put me on more medication but then I’m always in need of their diagnostics. So the more I can figure out for myself, oh my word, I could turn the tide on the diabetic reality. Plus so much more.
I enjoyed your very first book, so will preorder the new one. Good luck with everything!
Thanks, Nick. It's such a dilemma with the NHS isn't it. We know that early intervention ie more spent on public health initiatives saves money in the long run but the system is set up for dealing with acute care. A lot of people with Type 2 diabetes have to signpost themselves to healthy lifestyles but many more are managing to do it, with some spectacular results. By this September my blood sugar levels will have been in the average range for five years. I feel blessed!
That’s fantastic! Mine are higher but in the pre-diabetes area. So I’ve some work to do but just got myself a kayak and have been a member of a club for the past year. So have been learning a lot with the club equipment. Time to set some challenges with it. Exciting!
Book just pre-ordered! Am enjoying reading the chapters of Downsizing enormously and already I have made changes to what I eat! No more sugar…. Looking forward to the launch of Lose Weight 4 Life and congratulations and thanks for all that you have done and are doing.

Book pre-ordered. Not because I'm overly excited about the content, but because I love how you write! Can we expect a novel in the future? Please?
Thank you Jane. I'm glad you like it because I love writing this newsletter, even though it take hours!
